NIK AMMAR

Nik Ammar first started music on the piano learning to play Chopin and Bach from an early age. At age eight he started learning classical guitar and then later switched to electric guitar.

After graduating from Oxford with an Arts degree he travelled extensively throughout Central Asia and South America with his "Guitarrita" (a small traveller's size classical guitar). During this time he developed a strong interest and feel for ethnic music and instrumentation. Upon his return to the UK he took up Flamenco guitar and became guitarist and composer for Klezmer/Dance fusion band Oi-Va-Voi (in which he also plays mandolin).

Nik has performed to audiences all over the world including the Queen. As well as playing in such diverse places as Moscow, New York, Glastonbury, Cyprus, Paris, Germany, Amsterdam and Belgium, he has worked with many respected musicians including David Krakauer (Klezmatics) and legendary Algerian pianist Maurice El Medioni.
